Classics Challenge List
Um, I guess since I'm hosting the challenge I should go ahead and make my list...right? I don't really want to yet because like many of you I keep changing my mind, but I'm in the mood to post something and probably won't finish my current book (Mother of Pearl) until this weekend. So...here goes!
I'm going with Option 3--at least 2 countries, at least 2 genres
1. The Death of a Salesman - Arthur Miller (US - Drama)
2. Swiss Family Robinson - Johann David Wyss (Switzerland)
3. My Antonia - Willa Cather (US)
4. Lolita - Vladimir Nabokov (World!)
5. Oliver Twist - Charles Dickens (Great Britain)
Bonus (this is where I had the most difficult time choosing)
6. Neverwhere - Neil Gaiman
Now, of course I have the right to switch out books if I choose. :) Ha ha ha! I'm also thinking The Road and Ender's Game and Half of a Yellow Sun as my bonus books, but I thought I'd pick one that isn't currently on any of my challenge lists.
I can't wait for July to be here! I've loved reading everyone's lists so far and can't wait for the reviews. Thank you all for being so supportive!! Have you signed up yet with Mister Linky?? Click the button above to sign up. :)

As much as I'm looking forward to your challenge, Trish, I don't think I've ever had such a hard time coming up with a list! Like you, I just kept changing my mind. I could never quite get satisfied with my choices, but I decided I needed to just pick them and stop torturing myself. :)
Great list. I haven't read My Antonia or Lolita. I read Death of a Salesman in high school but don't remember much about it.
Hope you enjoy them.
You've inspired me to finally get my list posted!
That is a great list and I enjoyed Neverwhere immensely. I hope you do, too.

Out of those I've only read Lolita and Neverwhere, and I hope you enjoy them as much as I did. I look forward to all your reviews :)
*Debi - I still feel like I'm not totally satisified with my list. I can't believe how many books are out there that I want to read (classics at that!). Looking forward to the challenge as well! :)
*Amy - Thanks! I'm looking forward to Death of a Salesman--the only play I've read by Miller is The Crucible.
*Suey - Yay! Don't forget to post it with Mister Linky on the challenge site.
*CJ - I can't wait for Naiman--I've heard so many great things about his stuff.
*Nymeth - I'm really looking forward to reading them as well--I've wanted to read Lolita for a long time and as you know Gaiman's works as well!
I've only read the first two on your list! I wish we could all live in treehouses like the Swiss Family Robinson! And when I was young, I thought Ernst & Fritz were quite the studs ;)
What, no rereading OMF?
Good choices. I'm particularly fond of My Antonia.
My Antonia is amazing and I keep hearing about Neverwhere. Can't wait to hear what you think :)
Oh mine is done and posted in my widgets on my new blog, but I have to find time to post it officially as a post. I am still unsure whether my library has "Brideshead Revisited", if not, I will revert to the Scarlet Letter.
I last read My Antonia in high school but haven't read any of the others. Oliver Twist is one that I always think I'd like to get to someday.
*Em - No OMF. Although if you had finished it you probably would have seen what a delightful book it was. :) Ha ha! I'm going to have to find out what you thought of Swiss Family--I've seen the movie, but the book kind of intimidates me. I think I'm expecting it to be like Robinson Crusoe--the dullest book ever.
*Bookfool - I'm glad to hear something good about My Antonia. I haven't heard much about it so don't know what to expect, but I've liked Cather's other works.
*Corrine - Yay--something else good about My Antonia. I've heard great things about Gaiman, so I can't wait to read Neverwhere!
*Harry - Finding time is sometimes a problem for me as well! So glad you're joining us!
*Natasha - For some reason I steer clear of Dickens even though I really like him--I guess maybe its just the work I know I'll have to put in. I'm looking forward to this one, though.
Great list Trish! I really enjoyed Oliver Twist. I hope you will, that is if you don't change your mind. LOL.
*Dar - Oh I'm glad you liked Oliver Twist! I've read mostly Dickens later works, so I'm looking forward to reading one of his first novels. I have decided the only way I can stay sane in challenges is if I'm allowed to change my mind (which I really don't do that often...I just like having the option).
Dear Trish, I think you'll really enjoy My Antonia and Oliver Twist and I'll be interested to hear your thoughts on Lolita. I enjoy reading your reviews.
