Super Commenter Award :)

I've been lucky to have been awarded a few little gems over the past couple of weeks but this one really means a lot to me for a number of different reasons. So first, thanks to Dar, Jeane, and Nymeth for passing on the award to me--it really means a lot!

Part of the reason why this award means so much is because I do try to leave comments as much as I can. I get behind in life (um, like I am now), but I spend a lot of time reading through blogs and trying to leave thoughtful comments. I know how much I love and appreciate getting comments and know others must feel the same way and without a comment who knows you were there anyway? So thank you ladies, for noticing. I wish my comments could be a little more brillant, but sometimes a 'Hey, I was here' is all I can manage. Wow, maybe I can win the "cheese" award as well!

That brings me to another thing--I have almost 100 subscribers to my blog. I don't know how that compares to others, I'm not bragging--but really, who the heck are you people?? :) I would LOVE to come visit you--so leave me a comment letting me know you were here when you were. I've purposely left the number of blogs that I subscribe to at a manageable level so that I CAN visit everyone and leave comments as much as possible--but I still love to discover new blogs!

So, without further babble, I'm going to pass on the Super Commenter Award:
Nymeth at Things Mean a Lot
Dar at Peeking Between the Pages
Debi at Nothing of Importance
Laura at Reading Reflections
Literary Feline at Musings of a Bookish Kitty
Joy at Thoughts of Joy
CB at Ready When You Are CB

Some of these are new to me, some are old to me (and some of the very first blogs I discovered--Nymeth and Joy). Thank you gals and guy for being such great commenters. It means so much to know to know that you're there and even when I post rubbish I get your support. :) The rules say to pass it on to seven individuals.

SO, after getting back from Toronto I'm, of course, behind. I still have my thoughts on The Complete Persepolis to report and will finish up Neverwhere tomorrow--but I'm going out of town AGAIN this weekend (just a short trip, but no computer). I'm going to try and go through my Google Reader to try and catch any goodies from when I was gone, but with over 200 posts I can't read them all (AND I feel guilty when I can't comment as much as I want!!). Can everyone please hold their posts until next Tuesday so I can get caught up please?? That would be just perfect. :)

lol Trish, holding our comments-the talkative bunch that we are-don't see that happening. Hope you have a good weekend away.

Thank you so much for sending the award back my way. I really appreciate it too. I have quite a few blogs that I check but there's a few I make sure to follow. You're always a wonderful commentor and lol-you never post rubbish! You're too funny.

Yes, you totally deserve this one! When I started to see this one float around I wished I could pass it on to you (you are, as you know, my top commentator). But knowing that I am the WORST person at leaving comments I knew I wouldn't be getting this one passed along to me. No worries though. I sometimes just wish that I had more hours in the day.

Congratulations, Trish! I think this is the coolest awards going around!

Thank you, Trish! Seriously, this just means so much! And I'm not surprised one iota that you received this one multiple times. You should have received it another time, too. When I was making my list, nine people popped into my mind immediately, you, of course, being one of them. I just couldn't figure out how to narrow down my list, and finally left off the two people I'd "known" the shortest amount of time. Seems like a callous method.

Anyway, I know what you mean about getting behind. It only takes a few days away, and you get so massively behind that it seems impossible to catch up. But I really hate not reading something one of my friends had to say, and I really hate skipping commenting. What's a gal to do, huh?

I can't promise not to post until Tuesday, but I do promise not to post anything of importance so you can just mark me as read and start over when you get back. :)

Congrats on the award! And I'm one of your subscribers! :)

*Dar - Oh dear--hopefully even if you all keep posting I'll be able to catch up before the weekend. I've got most of my "favorite" blogs out of the queue, but I hate missing out and want to read everything!!

Anyway, you are welcome and it is much deserved. I really appreciate all of your comments and have enjoyed getting to know you over the past couple of months!!

*Natasha - Thank you! I do work really hard at it, so I appreciate the acknowledgement. And I know exactly what you mean about having more hours in the day. I see all that you are doing on your blog and wish I had the time! Maybe we can win the lotto and then I won't have to work anymore. :)

*Lezlie - It is a cool award! And we ALL love getting comments. Thanks for the congrats. :)

*Debi - Oh, I love reading the non-important stuff as well. :) I just need to learn to manage my time a little better I think so I can fit everything in I would like. The past couple of months I've let some other things slide (like working out!) and so I'll be doing a little shuffling, but just as you say, "what's a gal to do?" And it was a little difficult to choose who to give this award to--especially because I truly appreciate every comment I receive but you guys are my stars. :)

"I wish my comments could be a little more brillant" --> Don't! I love your comments exactly because they're always thoughtful, interesting and relevant. I love how you ask questions, say what's on your mind and just show in your comments that you're really listening.

About the number of subscribers: I just learned how to check that recently and I have about the same. It's both exciting and intimidating! I wonder who they are too. I bet some aren't even bloggers themselves, just people who enjoy reading about books. And maybe that's why they don't comment...for example, I read a few music blogs, but because I'm not involved with the community and not a part of that world, I don't always remember to leave a comment.

Enjoy your weekend, and don't feel too guilty to click the "mark all as read" button when you get back. Sometimes it just has to be done. I can't wait to read your thoughts on Persepolis and Neverwhere!

I confess: I'm definitely a regular reader! and congrats on the award.

Well how nice is that! What a great way to start my Friday.

How do I check for subscribers???

Thanks for joining Short Story September. I've added your blog to the link list.

*Heather - I've got you on my list as well! But don't you ever wonder who the others are who don't leave comments? :)

*Bookchronicle - I appreciate you coming by and your comments!! the interaction definitely makes blogging more fun, I think.

*CB - Hope you have a great Friday! The only way that I know how to check for subscribers is to first subscribe to your blog (I use Google Reader). When you pull up your blog in the reader, there is a link in the right hand corner that says "show details". If you click on that, it will show you how many subscribers you have and number of posts per week. So basically, anyone you subscribe to you can see how many "readers" they have. 100 seems like such an inflated number, especially because a 10th of that will comment on any given post...so that's why I'm curious who all these people are!

Trish @ Love, Laughter, Insanity said...

*Nymeth - I know that there are bloggers out there who subscribe to hundreds of blogs, and so I think the number is pretty inflated--like I was telling CB above. It's funny because I didn't start my blog to get comments although I LOVE getting them, but it has enhanced my blogging experience so much--and I get so much more out of blogging by leaving comments for others. And thank you for the compliment--it means a lot coming from you and I've learned a lot from you in the past year through your posts and comments. :) So, thank you, my dear.

Congratulations! You definitely deserve this one. I love reading your blog so keep it up!!

Hey, just a note on checking the number of subscribers. When you look at the details in Google Reader, it only shows those subscribers using Google Reader. At least that's the way I understand it, because it shows 96 for me, but I really have 147 (through Feedburner), meaning they use other readers or subscribe by email (which a lot of mine are more casual readers, and choose that option). So, you may actually have MORE than you think!

Thank you so much, Trish! I really appreciate the comments you leave me as well.

I hope you enjoy your weekend!

YOU are the SUPER COMMENTER, Trish! I don't know how you found me, but I'm so glad you did. You have been a true supporter of my blog, even though I only briefly state my thoughts - nothing in depth from me! I appreciate you. :)

*There is an addendum to my original post regarding the award. You might want to check it out.

Trish @ Love, Laughter, Insanity said...

*Amanda - Thanks! I've really enjoyed getting to know you through your blog as well!

*Natasha - The number of subscribers doesn't really concern me a whole lot; I'm just curious who those "silent" subscribers are. I've never used feedburner--it took me forever just to figure out google reader. :) Not very savvy...

*Lit Feline - No problem! I hope you have a great weekend as well. :)

Trish @ Love, Laughter, Insanity said...

*Joy - Ha ha! Thanks. Um, I think I probably found you through the challenges. When I first started blogging that's how I found new people--by going to the challenge participant list and just clicking through. And for whatever reason I targeted YOU for all the advice I was seeking. :) I am such a nerd!!

Darlene said...

LOL-not such a nerd Trish. I did the same thing to Joy.

I subscribe via google reader! I only know how to see subscribers who use that tool, although once someone told me how many subscribers I have to Snippets (my nonbooks blog) via bloglines.

But the number of subscribers you have in google reader is just a fraction of your readers! My husband write a program that text messages me each day, telling me how many unique visitors I have to my blog that day, and the number of google reader subscribers I have is about 1/6 of the number of daily unique visitors. So I bet you could multiply your readers by six, too!

Hi! Just wanted to let you know you have a new follower. I'm tickled to see I've read a few of the books you have. I'm always looking for good recommendations so I will frequent your site often!

You definitely deserve this award. You're a great commenter - I always appreciate what you have to say :)

Trish @ Love, Laughter, Insanity said...

*Dar - I'm glad I'm not alone in my questions. I've been blogging for a year and still have them! Oh well. :)

*Dewey - I've seen bloggers talk about tracking their stats and while it sounds really interesting, I'm not sure if it would change anything that I do/write so I haven't put much thought into it. I never thought that blogging would be this big when I started a year ago!

*APA - Thanks for coming by!! I hope you are able to find something you like on here--and please let me know when you do!

*Corinne - Thank you. :) Sometimes I have easier times writing comments than other times but the thought counts for something, right?? Ha!
