Challenge Buttons - HELP!!

First, I haven't forgotten about drawing a name for the classics challenge jackpot. I'll do my very very very best to draw a name this week.

Second, I need YOUR help. I got a new computer for Christmas that I love, and I am in total love with my new Office 2007 because I'm a gigantic excel nerd. :) But, my office 2007 does not have Microsoft Publisher, which is how I made the button for the classics challenge.

I need a volunteer to make me a button for the Non-Fiction Five and/or the Classics Challenge. You can draft one up and send it to me, and if there are multiple ones then I'll maybe choose one or even include them all for choices (unless there are a million because you all love me so much). Ha! My email is on the top left-hand side of the blog under the About Me thingy.

The Non-Fiction Five will run from May-September, the same as the previous 2 years. The classics will either run March-August or April-September (I like the April start but don't like it ending the same time as NFF).

Please??? :)

If you'd like more than one (personally I like having several buttons to choose from) I can give it a try too.

Ah man, I'm totally clueless how to do something like that. But I do have a suggestion for the timing of the Classics Challenge--if you don't want it ending at the same time as the Non-Fiction Five, go ahead and start it in April but let it run through October or November. Yes, that's the slacker and/or slow reader in me talking. :)

*Bethany - Thanks!

*Nymeth - I'd love that. Bethany sent in one for the classics, but multiple buttons is great, too!

*Debi - You are such a little sneak!! Maybe I'll do that--but if you get 7 months, then I'm going to bump up the classics amount from 5 to 6...Oh, what do I care?? :)

It's likely that I won't be able to do it this week, though, so let me now if by the time I get to it you already have a billion :P

If I was talented enough to make you some buttons I surely would-lol. You have a couple of the best button makers on the job though so that's good.

Ah, blasted! I am a bit of a computer caveman, so I am sorry, but I can't help. I am also quite bummed that for personal reasons I couldn't get even though half of the books I wanted for the challenge. *grim look*

Can't help with the buttons, but I do like Debi's suggestion for timing!

I'm bad with the graphics/art end of things too, but I'm hoping to join one or the other of your challenges later this year if you're still taking on new "contestants." They both sound fun. Cheers!

Dear Trish:
As the writer, I found your review thoughtful. Given that the stories were written over three decades and many of them published in experimental and non-experimental journals in those pre-computer years, I spent an inordinate amount of time on trying to perfect -- if that is even obtainable -- my craft. Many writers learn to write their novels after an apprenticeship in writing short stories. (See my The i Tetralogy). So I experimented with time and language. I believe some of my stories deserve more than one reading. To wit, in "Herbie" many reviewers speak mostly about the father-son relationship and omit dealing with the mnother who is a manipulator and highly toxic. I thought it was clear; apparently not. After all, the writer loses his "control" over the story once another human being reads and responds to it, thus, the comments on this page. So, Trish, I appreciate your struggle; when readers do not struggle I have not done my job or they have not their job.
Kind regards,
Matt

*Nymeth - LOL--not a million. Just yours and Bethany's. :)

*Dar - I had Joy help me a lot with the first, but now I don't even have the software!

*Daydream - I was wondering what happened to you. ;) No worries--the challenge will restart in a few months.

*Terri - Oh...you're all twisting my arm!! :P I'll see what I can do. Wait! I'm in charge! muh hahahaha. :)

*Richard - There aren't even sign ups yet, so you're definitely not late!! The non-fiction will definitely start in May, not sure about the classics. Hope you join us!
