A Whole Lotta Books to Unpack

Howdy! And Happy New Year!

Just thought I'd send a quick hello since I finally got my books unpacked. I got two new bookshelves last night so I have three matching in total. I feel like such a grown up! Ha! One more is coming today but I have to share that one with Scott. Boo! I wish I could try to talk him into getting rid of some of his books, namely the outdated business textbooks, but I know I don't have room to talk.

In case you're wondering how many boxes it takes to pack up approximately 700 books, well here's a look. (those don't include the boxes with Scott's books as he hasn't unpacked his yet).

Oph! Scott just informed me that he found another medium box with books. Sigh--add one more to the pyramid in the picture!

Side note--I started getting so much spam during my absence that I'm now on full moderation. Sucks since I don't get on the computer very much lately, but I figured that was better than comments for escort services or random Chinese symbols popping up. Maybe one day I'll be able to take it off again.

Congratulations it looks like you're on your way. The bookshelves look great. I know you must be smiling. I would.

I love the matching bookshelves! Did you get rid of any books in your move, or did you pack them all up? Someone got quite a workout moving all those heavy book-filled boxes! :)

I love matching shelves. :) They look great. I'm waiting on a new bookshelf to come in the mail, but it's on backorder :(

Happy unpacking!

We have missed you!

Please tell me you will still be running the Non Fiction Five challenge as I am presently sorting out books.

Lovely to have you back. Love the bookshelves.

Wow! That's a lot of books - I'm jealous of your new bookcases.

I am jealous of all the books! I could sit for hours at your house just admiring them! Congrats on the move! Is this permanant or are you still looking for a place to buy? It is good to see you around again! Make it more frequent! I miss you!

So good to hear from you again! I've missed you. Those are some beautiful bookshelves :)

We used to move so much I never kept my books...because I hated moving them! They're so heavy!! I'm impressed you moved 700 of them!

I was so excited to see a post from you in my reader! I feel like it has been forever :)

Your shelves look beautiful - but I sure don't envy the packing and unpacking of all those boxes.

I hope you had a wonderful holiday and are looking forward to a great New Year.

I love the pyramid! Just take that other medium box he found and add it to the top under that little box. :D

Sucks about the spam comments. A lot of people have been getting them lately. :(

How's moving going? Are you doing okay?

ha ha, yep, you're such a grown-up! :-) Hope the move went well and that all is ok with you!

Thanks everyone for the blogger love. :) I can't believe that I haven't regularly blogged in over two months. I was half certain that people would say, Trish? Trish who? Ha!

Life is starting to settle down a little bit so hopefully I'll be able to make some sort of plan for blogging that won't have me totally stressed out and running out the door again.

Miss you all, too!!

Trish

Yikes! You are going to be busy unpacking all of those books but your bookshelves are gorgeous! Good luck on all of the unpacking and keep us updated!!

My hubby wouldn't get rid of textbooks for years. Then I just started dropping one every so often into the trash. He never missed them!

Love your bookcases. I have what I call halfcases because the bottom of my two are dressers so I have essentially one bookcase for 300+ books.

I hate holding on to my textbooks. My friends are all keeping theirs but I can't imagine looking at my intro to psychology textbook ever again.

This is a great picture! I love looking at book-related pictures. :)

I know what you mean about your hubby's textbooks! Mine has some fifteen years old computer books that he'll never use again, talk about space uselessly taken :P

That's a great pile of boxes though, kind of scary! We are thinking of moving this spring, and the idea of packing my books makes me a little dizzy... you have some great shelves though :) Have fun with that last box!

Hey Trish!!! *waves* I don't envy you at all :p I just finished unpacking boxes and boxes of books myself. I had to haul all of mine upstairs and it was awful, lol. But at the same time, it was tons of fun to arrange them all nice and neat on the shelves!! Good to hear from you Trish :) I've missed you!!

The bookshelves are beautiful! Whenever we have moved, books have been the only thing I *don't* mind unpacking!

Happy New Year, Trish! I missed ya! ;)

I love your bookshelves! How I wish I could have some because my storeroom is going to be flooded with my TBR pile, LOL.

Good luck on the unpacking, and Happy Reading!

Oh boy does that bring back memories of my 600 books and our move in April of 2009....not fun, but once they are unpacked it feels so good. Much happiness in your new home.

I wondered where you've been! Not that I've been around much, but it's great to finally see you posting. I should join your 100-mile fitness challenge. We got a treadmill for our Christmas gift to each other and I'm loving it.

As to the books . . . we have something on the order of 3-4,000. I think I'd better work harder at thinning the shelves, if we want to ever get out of this house!

Looks like you could use a few more book cases, with or without Scott! Good luck finding room for everything.

I've been gone myself, so I just saw the post about the Classics Challenge (Yay!). I'll be signing up asap.

Welcome back!

Happy New Year! Happy Box-of-Books unpacking!

Aww, that's lovely! I think unpacking is the best part... you get to see all of those books you'd forgotten about, and you come out of it enthused about reading all of them right away. Plus, I am a sucker for organizing anything, and bookshelves are one of my favorites.

Amanda said...

That is hilarious! We are in the process of packing up our books (among other things) while my husband just laughs at all my books. I have the same silly un-fair twinge of wanting him to get rid of his old boring text books. Too funny :)

Serena said...

Love this photo...enjoy unpacking the books and revisiting them one by one as they go onto the shelves.

Debi said...

I laughed so hard at that comment you made about having to share one of the bookcases with Scott! Really! He should know better...tell him to get his own damn bookcase and put it somewhere else! ;)

Hope all went smoothly with the move, and that the unpacking goes smoothly as well. Unpacking is always so much more satisfying than the packing was, isn't it? And I sure would love to see more pictures of your new home!!!

Oh Trish, it's just sooooo wonderful having a post from you... :D

I'm in a similar situation. I've just moved to a new house, and the books are sill all in their boxes! I might put the bookshelves together today and start unpacking my babies later on:)
I'm not really looking forward to unpack anything else!

Jodie said...

Awesome! You should build a fort with your boxes.

Violet said...

oohhh...what a drool worthy picture. Love your bookshelves.

trish said...

That's a lot of boxes for books! Is it wrong to kind of wish I never move, just for the reason I don't want to move my books? LOL

I think I have almost the same bookcases in my "library." :) It was so nice when I actually got them organized (we have a fiction wall organized by author and a non-fiction wall organized by subject) - makes me feel like a grown up (but I guess I should be at almost 30?)

See you at the Fitness Challenge :)

Love your matching bookshelves! And happy belated New Year. I've been getting lots of spam lately too. Boo! Hope to see you back online more but I know it's hard to juggle everything. I'm just starting to catch up after not blogging nearly as much over the last couple of months or so. Anyway, enjoy all those books! :)

looking good. We just moved also and bought 3 matching bookcases & they are full. I thought I had a lot of books...700 that's awesome :)

This picture makes me feel so much better about my own books :) Love the bookshelves.

Kathleen said...

Oh. My. Gosh.

When I moved I didn't have anywhere near that many books but I did have lots of large nonfiction and binders too. Made for some heavy boxes.

Jillian said...

This is amazing. I remembered when we moved houses and had to pack all my books I've owned through the years in boxes as well. It felt great when I started putting them on my new shelves. It was almost like having a conversation with each book I stacked up.

Hi Trish! I'm just dropping in to say "hi." Looks like you moved? I took an unplanned blog break -- just couldn't keep up with all I had going on and disappeared for awhile. I'm kinda back ... you know ... when I feel like it ;o)

Hope all is well with you.
